Emily Lam is the Director of Health Care and Federal Issues for the Silicon Valley Leadership Group.

In her role, Emily helps direct the Leadership Group’s activities for the Health Policy Committee and was involved with the state comprehensive health care reform legislation in 2007. Emily is currently leading the Fit for Life - Fit for Work Initiative, a collaboration to help employers move away from treating illness to promoting health through starting and improving wellness programs and events.

In addition, Emily coordinates the Leadership Group’s Federal Issues Committee, bringing together the organization’s top priorities at the federal level including immigration and H1B visas issues, R&D tax credits, SOX reform and appropriations for America COMPETES, transportation and affordable housing.

Previously, Emily worked for a health care IT company where she collaborated with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to make available all the Medicare Part D formularies in electronic format. Prior to that, she served as the management analyst for the Director of the San Mateo County Health Department, where she led the county health disparities initiative and helped develop the Health Policy and Planning division. Emily has also worked in Washington DC for the research and consulting firm, The Lewin Group, where she had a wide variety of clients including DHHS, state health departments, non-profits, foundations, pharmaceutical and insurance companies, and trade associations.

Emily is a San Franciscan native and an avid bay area sports fan. She enjoys biking, photography and promoting the use of technology to increase efficiency and drive systemic health care reform. Emily received a BA in Community Health from Brown University and a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University with an emphasis in Strategic Management.
