Like the highway 101 morning commute, the congestion was almost overwhelming. But rather than freeway lanes, the congestion was on the telephone lines, when the san jose mercury news' "mr. Roadshow" - gary richards - was my most recent guest on "the ceo show" last tuesday on 1590 kliv radio.
For the thousands who read his popular six-day per week column but have not met him in person, he is as thoughtful and down-to-earth in the flesh as he appears on the printed page.
His mid-western values from his home state of iowa shine through; hard-working, honest and plain-spoken. In addition to the dozen or so questions I posed to gary, we had time to field a baker's-dozen callers as well.
For those of you who could not break through the busy signals calling into the studio - take heart. Mr. Roadshow has promised to return. My hope is to have him on the show as often as quarterly for the balance of 2008. In the meantime, you can download last week's show with gary richards - as well as all past shows - on the silicon valley leadership group web site at svlg.net.
For those of us still puzzling about our votes on the february 5 presidential primary and the plethora of statewide and local ballot propositions, join me for the january 29 show at 7pm with popular and articulate former republican state assemblyman jim cunneen and nationally known democratic political consultant & election mastermind garry south for a bi-partisan discussion and debate on policy and politics.
Your input on future guests, or future topics, is encouraged. We started "the ceo show" as a platform for an interactive dialogue with silicon valley leaders. Listen in, call in and weigh-in with your views and viewpoint. It may be called "the ceo show," but our intent has always been that it is "your show."
