Silicon Valley Leadership Group Supports Governor's Proposed Health Care Reform Legislation

The Silicon Valley Leadership Group today expressed its strong support of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's compromise proposal on health care reform, noting that the legislation retains the core principles of guaranteed access for all and lower health care costs.

"Governor Schwarzenegger has written a prescription for health care reform that will go a long way toward curing our ailing system in California," said Carl Guardino, CEO of the Leadership Group, which represents 225 Silicon Valley employers and some 250,000 jobs in the region. "We maintain our support for shared responsibility, and we encourage the Legislature to enact health care reform this year that is consistent with the governor's proposal."

The governor released his proposal in bill form this afternoon as the Health Care Security and Cost Reduction Act, legislation that reflects feedback from more than 1000 meetings he and his health care team held with stakeholders and legislative leaders since he announced his original health care reform proposal in January.
